Monitoring of thoracic activity using electromagnetic coupling
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper gives an analysis of noncontact monitoring of thoracic activity by electromagnetic coupling between a sensor coil and thoracic tissue (sometimes called Magnetic induction monitoring). In this context, thoracic activity comprises respiratory and cardiac activity as well as further body motion. The physical principle of the measurement technique is described and several wearable and stationary monitoring devices developed by the authors are presented. Sensor characteristics are investigated in laboratory experiments and the suitability of the measurement method for homemonitoring systems is evaluated in different medical applications on healthy volunteers. This work intends to give an overview about the findings achieved by the authors and, therefore, summarizes information already been published elsewhere.

Mechanical activity of isolated aorta strips after prolonged exposure to low frequency electromagnetic fields and its interaction with the cholinergic and adrenergic systems in male rat
Introduction: Public concern about the potential effects of electromagnetic field (EMF) on human health is increased by progressive usage of electrical devices in modern life. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of prolonged exposure to low frequency EMF on the mechanical activity of isolated thoracic aorta strips in rats. Methods: Fourteen male rats were randomly allocated into...
متن کاملSHEET ELECTROMAGNETIC FORMING USING CONVEX PUNCH INSTEAD OF CONVAVE DIE
High speed and absence of a precise control over pressure distribution confine sheet Electromagnetic Forming into a die to simple shapes having shallow depth. It is possible to reach a higher depth by using a convex punch instead of a concave die. In this study, sheet Electromagnetic Forming on a punch and sheet Electromagnetic Forming into a die are investigated. The electromagnetic part of th...
متن کاملElectromagnetic coupling simulations for a magnetic induction sensor for sleep monitoring
Magnetic induction (MI) method has been extensively used in non-destructive testing of materials. In biomedical applications, it attracted lots of attention for the contact-less advantages it provides. Sleep monitoring through detecting conductivity changes in lungs and heart during breathing and cardiac activity is the purpose of our studies. The low conductivity of biological tissues increase...
متن کاملNon-ionizing electromagnetic waves measurement and monitoring Systems
In this paper, portable and online monitoring systems for non-ionizing EMF measurement, as well as some measurement results in Tehran are discussed. First of all, standards and recommendations related to EMF monitoring, measurement and exposure such as ISIRI No.8567, ICNIRP guideline and ITU-K.83 are reviewed. Then, technical facts and operation of portable device and monitoring station are int...
متن کاملEffects of static and electromagnetic fields on human serum paraoxonase-1 activity in vitro
Introduction: In recent years the relationship between electromagnetic fields and coronary artery disease is attracted a considerable attention. Low density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation is the initial step in the development of atherosclerosis. Paraoxonase1 (PON1) protects LDL and High density lipoprotein (HDL) against oxidative processes, thus preventing the formation of atherogenic (oxidized-L...
